ShiftCam LensUltra Series Feedback

Pros:
Overall, I'm pleased with the LensUltra Series lenses I've received. My favorites so far are the 10x traditional macro, the 16mm wide-angle, and the 200° fisheye lenses. Their quality is apparent, and their substantial weight contributes to a well-crafted feel.

I've particularly enjoyed using the included CPL filter, which effectively reduces glare in photos of reflective surfaces and bodies of water.

The ProGrip has been incredibly useful as well. It transitions smoothly from portrait to landscape orientation, and the shutter button's ergonomic placement allows for easy access. The padded hand strap makes the ProGrip experience feel more secure. Additionally, the feature of wireless charging is a great inclusion.

I also appreciate the lens covers, which are conveniently labeled with the name of the filter or lens on the D-ring, making it easier to find the right attachment.

Cons:
While I appreciate the sturdy case of the LensUltra Series, its practicality diminishes during day hikes or city walks where fewer lenses may be necessary. For me the lens covers, while easily identifiable, necessitate grouping in a single bag, leading to time-consuming searches for the right one. This also increases the risk of losing small items, as I embarrassingly did with my 60 mm telephoto lens on a recent outing. To prevent further loss, I now interlock all the D-rings, sacrificing convenience for security.

Despite Shiftcam offering several camera bags, none match my specific requirements. Drawing from my experience in designing and sewing bags, I envision the ideal solution as a crossbody, anti-theft sling bag with webbing that includes sewn-in loops near a zippered opening, allowing for individual attachment of each lens cover's D-ring for quick access.

Additionally, attaching lenses to my phone cover is nerve-wracking, especially over hard surfaces like cement, due to the precision required to align the small threads. My proposed bag design would feature an opening that supports the phone, facilitating secure lens attachment above the bag and mitigating the risk of drops.

The challenge of directly attaching filters due to the tight default threaded rings has caused me to miss shots. A redesign for easier removal would enhance the user experience during time-sensitive situations. After doing this a few times I see the appeal of a magnetic filter attachment similar to what Reeflex offers.

I value the ergonomic ProGrip design; however, after several uses, I've identified potential improvements. Firstly, the top rubber protector tends to slip off during rainy conditions, which is less than ideal. Additionally, the absence of a cover for the USB-C cable connection poses a risk in dusty environments or at the beach, where water, dirt, or sand could compromise the device. To address these concerns, it would be beneficial for ShiftCam to include a ProGrip protective cover as part of the purchase when investing in the lens ultra series. As a temporary measure, I resort to using a large Ziploc bag for elemental protection, but a more permanent solution would be preferable.

I think some of these suggested improvements would make using the LensUltra Series lenses, filters, and ProGrip more enjoyable. I look forward to taking more photos and videos with the ShiftCam products.

Love my 75mm Long Range Macro!

Several months ago I sold all my digital camera equipment (Olympus OM D Mark 2, am Olympus Pen and about 6 lenses) and purchased a ShiftCam kit ( pro grip and 4 lenses) after making the decision to move from digital photography to iPhonetography. I have been focusing on the 75 mm Macro as I love macro photography (especially floral photography). I find it to be very simple to use and a great alternative to my iPhone 15 pro max macro. All my LensUltra’s are fantastic ( wide angle, telephoto, macro and fisheye!) the iPhone 15 pro max is a great camera in of itself - However the ShiftCam lens make it ULTRA-GREAT!

VND Filter and phone camera?

VND Filter and phone camera? Why should i use it? Well… because You want to have cinematic feeling in videos made by phone. When You will use manual settings in bright day You don’t want to make corrections and loose quality - here comes VND filter to the rescue. Highest quality of materials filter can be used directly on phone or with different lenses from Shiftcam. End effect is superb. Definitely must have in phone content creation.
